Chris Guilfoyle began playing the trombone in 6th grade in Cypress, TX in 1998. When he was in high school he was competitive in the All-Region, Area and All-State processes. Chris was able to place 1st in State on Bass Trombone for 2 consecutive years.
During Chris’s junior year of high school he was accepted into the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music, a conservatory in Philadelphia, PA. During his 4 years at Curtis, he played the majority of the standard orchestral repertoire, played many recitals and took several orchestral auditions.
In 2008, Chris moved to Dallas. Since moving to Dallas he participated in a non-degree performance program at Southern Methodist University. He also has been teaching low brass private lessons and giving masterclasses since arriving in Dallas, giving him more than a decade of experience in the field.
Chris also has professional performing experience including, most recently, performing in the Dallas Symphony in October of 2019. He has also performed in the San Antonio Symphony, The Dallas Winds, The Brevard Philharmonic and the Allen Philharmonic.
